Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party: What It's Really Like at Magic Kingdom

If you love Disney AND Christmas, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is one of those events that just makes Magic Kingdom feel completely different.

I went with my mom in 2025, and it was AMAZING.

I already love Magic Kingdom, but add Christmas decorations, holiday treats, special characters, a Christmas parade, fireworks, and snow falling on Main Street? I was sold.

And one of my favorite parts was how much we were actually able to experience throughout the night.

What Is Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party?

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is a separately ticketed event held at Magic Kingdom during the holiday season.

The party itself takes place after regular park hours, which means attendance is limited and you get access to special entertainment, characters, treats, merchandise, food, and holiday experiences you won't find during a normal Magic Kingdom day.

One HUGE perk: you don't have to wait until the official party begins to enter the park.

Party ticket holders can enter Magic Kingdom as early as 4:00 PM, even though the party doesn't officially begin until 7:00 PM and ends at midnight.

That extra time was perfect for us.

Our Night Started Before the Party Even Began

My mom and I headed into Magic Kingdom early so we could get settled and enjoy a few hours in the park before all of the Christmas festivities officially started.

When we entered, we received our special party wristbands and were directed to pick up the pamphlet for the night.

GET THE PAMPHLET.

It shows you where to find the special treats, character appearances, entertainment, exclusive food, and everything else happening throughout the party.

We also received a little Christmas ornament as a keepsake, which I loved. It was such a cute little souvenir to bring home and remember the night.

Since we had those few hours before the party, we walked around and figured out our priorities. There is A LOT happening during Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, and you probably won't do every single thing in one night.

We decided our top priorities were:

  1. Minnie's Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks Show

  2. Mickey's Once Upon a Christmastime Parade

  3. Meeting Jack and Sally if we could

I highly recommend doing something similar. Decide what you absolutely don't want to miss before the party starts, because those hours go FAST.

Once the Party Started...

As soon as the party officially started, we decided to ride TRON Lightcycle / Run.

And I'm not kidding when I say so many rides were basically walk-ons throughout the night.

Obviously, wait times can vary, but the lower crowds during our party made it possible for us to get on quite a few rides while still enjoying the special Christmas entertainment.

One of the best parts is that some attractions even receive special holiday overlays.

That's one reason I think these after-hours events can be SO worth it. Yes, you're paying for another ticket, but if riding attractions is important to you, you may be surprised by how much you can accomplish.

Cookies, Hot Cocoa & Christmas Treats Throughout Magic Kingdom

Another fun part of the party is all the treats!

Throughout Magic Kingdom, there are designated locations where you can pick up complimentary cookies and festive beverages. Disney currently lists these treats and drinks as included with your party admission.

When we went, we had things like cookies, milk, apple cider, hot cocoa, eggnog, punch and other treats throughout the park.

Is this the main reason I'd buy a party ticket? No.

But there's something about walking around Magic Kingdom at Christmas with a cookie and hot cocoa in your hand that just feels right.

There are also specialty foods available for purchase during the event, and of course I had to try one.

The Holiday Pot Roast Hot Dog at Casey's Corner

Before the fireworks, we realized we needed some actual food, so we headed over to Casey's Corner.

I ordered the Holiday Pot Roast Hot Dog, and MAN was that delicious.

I'm a foodie when I travel, so naturally the special holiday food was part of the experience for me.

Disney offers event-themed dishes and treats at select locations during the party, although the specific menus can change from year to year.

We finished eating at exactly the right time and headed out for one of our biggest priorities of the night...

Minnie's Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks Show

The fireworks were BEAUTIFUL.

Minnie's Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks Show combines fireworks, projections, holiday music, and Cinderella Castle all lit up for Christmas.

I loved seeing the castle completely transformed with all of the Christmas projections.

It's one of those moments where you look around and think, Yep. This is why we came.

After the fireworks, we headed to the Confectionery to grab a sweet treat before finding our spot for the Christmas parade.

Mickey's Once Upon a Christmastime Parade

DO NOT skip the parade.

Even if you normally aren't a huge parade person, this one is so cute.

Mickey's Once Upon a Christmastime Parade features Disney characters celebrating the holidays, along with dancing gingerbread men, marching toy soldiers, and so many other Christmas touches.

And then, of course, Santa Claus himself comes riding through to finish the parade. It really brings the entire Christmas-at-Disney feeling together.

While you're walking around Magic Kingdom, keep an eye out for characters too. One of the things that makes the party special is getting the chance to see Disney characters dressed for the holidays and character experiences that you may not normally find during a regular park day.

Storybook Circus also becomes a Christmas-themed area where guests can find Santa.

But there was ONE character experience we were determined to squeeze in before our night ended.

We Met the Pumpkin King!

We wrapped up our night by meeting none other than the Pumpkin King himself—Jack Skellington!

And even better, Sally and Zero were there too!

I was SO excited we got to meet them because The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my favorite movies, so this was definitely a must-do for me.

That's why I recommend checking the character lineup and entertainment schedule as soon as you get your party information.

Some of these special character appearances can be really popular, so if there's someone you absolutely want to meet, make them a priority!

One of My Favorite Moments Happened at the Very End

We did a little shopping before leaving, and by the time we finally started making our way toward the exit, most people were already gone.

My mom and I were seriously some of the last people walking out.

So naturally... we took advantage of it.

We stopped around Town Square near City Hall and Main Street and took photos with practically NO ONE around. Because how often can you say that about Magic Kingdom?!

It was such a simple ending to the night, but it's one of the things I remember most.

And Yes... It Snows on Main Street!

Okay, obviously we're in Florida.

But during Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, Disney creates snowfall on Main Street, U.S.A.

Walking down Main Street with Christmas music playing, Cinderella Castle glowing in the distance, all of the decorations around you, and snow falling overhead is SO festive.

It's hard not to feel like a kid at Christmas.

So, Is Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party Worth It?

After experiencing it myself, I would absolutely do Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party again.

For me, it wasn't one single thing that made the night special. It was everything together: the lower crowds we experienced, riding attractions with minimal waits, Christmas treats, exclusive food, characters, fireworks, the parade, decorations, snow on Main Street, and just getting to experience Magic Kingdom in a completely different way.

I also love that you can enter Magic Kingdom several hours before the party begins. If you plan your evening intentionally, those extra hours can give you time to ride attractions and eat before focusing on the exclusive entertainment once the party starts.

My biggest piece of advice? Don't try to do everything.

Pick your top few priorities, use your party guide, and enjoy the night instead of spending the entire time running from one thing to another.
