Why Las Caletas Is One of My Favorite Destination Wedding Venues in Mexico

If you want a destination wedding that your guests are still talking about years later, Las Caletas in Puerto Vallarta should absolutely be on your list.

This is not a wedding where your guests walk downstairs from their resort room, sit in folding chairs on the same beach they have been laying on all week, attend the reception and head back upstairs.

A wedding at Las Caletas is an experience:

  • You travel across the water by boat.

  • You arrive at this secluded tropical venue surrounded by jungle and ocean.

  • You get married on the beach.

  • You celebrate into the evening.

  • When the reception is over, the party continues as everyone gets back onto the boat together and heads across the water to Puerto Vallarta.

It is different. It is memorable. And it is one of my absolute favorite destination wedding venues.

I also have a perspective on Las Caletas that is very special to me because I have attended two weddings there—one as part of the wedding party and one as a guest.

So when I plan a Las Caletas wedding for one of my couples, I am not simply looking at a venue map or reading through a wedding package.

I know what this wedding actually feels like.

There Is No Road to Las Caletas

One of the coolest things about Las Caletas is that you cannot simply drive there.

There are no roads leading directly to the venue.

You arrive by boat.

That immediately makes your wedding feel like an event.

Your guests will spend the morning at their Puerto Vallarta resort, get ready, meet for the transportation I have arranged, travel to the boat departure point and then head across the water together to Las Caletas.

There is anticipation built into the entire experience.

You're not simply telling your guests, "The ceremony starts at 5."

You're giving them an adventure before they even reach your wedding.

When you arrive at Las Caletas, the staff welcomes everyone and guides guests through this beautiful tropical setting toward the wedding venue.

And then you see it:

  • The ocean

  • The beach

  • The greenery

  • The ceremony setup

You immediately understand why you traveled all the way to Mexico to get married.

I Have Experienced the Bride's Side of Las Caletas

Destination wedding bride at the Las Caletas bridal bungalow

The first wedding I attended at Las Caletas, I was part of the wedding.

The girls went over earlier in the day with the bride, while the guests stayed back at the resort.

And this is still one of my favorite parts of the entire Las Caletas experience.

We had a private bungalow where we spent the day together.

There was an outdoor tub.

We could walk right down to the beach.

We spent the morning swimming, hanging out and enjoying our time together before we ever had to start thinking about the ceremony.

A huge fruit platter was delivered to us, and we spent the morning making memories with our girl before eventually getting ready and walking with her down the aisle.

Think about how different that feels from rushing around a hotel room all morning.

You are already at this beautiful secluded venue.

You're with your closest people.

You get to enjoy the beach.

You get ready together.

And then you walk down to your wedding.

That is a wedding morning I would choose over sitting in a hotel room watching the clock any day.

Then I Experienced the Exact Same Wedding as a Guest

The second time I attended a Las Caletas wedding, everything came full circle.

This time, I wasn't with the bride.

I was a guest.

I spent the morning at the resort.

I got ready there.

I met up with everyone else.

I took the transportation to the boat dock.

I boarded the boat.

I experienced the excitement of arriving at Las Caletas and walking into the venue without having been there all day.

And experiencing both sides matters more than you might think.

Because now when I am planning your wedding, I understand what you are experiencing that morning.

But I also understand what your guests are experiencing.

I know the questions they're going to have.

I understand how the timeline feels from their side.

I know how important transportation timing is.

I know what it is like waiting at the resort, getting everyone together, traveling to the boat and arriving at Las Caletas.

Your wedding isn't only about choosing a beautiful ceremony location.

It's about making the entire day flow for everyone involved.

Las Caletas Feels Like a True Destination Wedding

Secluded beach and tropical coastline at Las Caletas near Puerto Vallarta

There are beautiful resort wedding venues all over Mexico.

But there is something about Las Caletas that feels completely different.

You aren't standing on a beach with a large resort behind you.

You are being transported to your wedding by boat.

You're surrounded by tropical greenery.

The ocean is right there.

As the evening goes on and the lights and candles come out, the entire atmosphere changes again.

It feels intimate.

It feels romantic.

And most importantly, it feels like an experience your guests would not have had if you had gotten married back home.

If you're asking your closest friends and family to travel to Mexico for your wedding, I want the experience to feel worth traveling for.

Las Caletas does that.

And Yes, the Extras Matter—But Not Every Extra Is Necessary

Destination wedding packages have a way of making everything sound essential.

Upgrade this.

Add this.

You definitely need this.

But do you?

This is another reason my experience at Las Caletas matters.

I have attended the actual wedding. Twice. I've watched the night unfold from a guest's perspective.

When we review upgrades, these are the questions I help you answer:

  • Did people notice that upgrade?

  • Did guests use it?

  • Did it improve the wedding?

  • Would I spend money on it?

  • Or would I put that money toward something with a bigger impact on the overall experience?

I don't want you adding something simply because it appears on an upgrade sheet.

I want you spending your wedding budget intentionally on the things that are going to make your wedding better.

Your Las Caletas Wedding Is About More Than the Wedding Venue

Hannah Isley and her family arriving by boat for the Las Caletas experience

This is where destination wedding planning gets complicated.

You aren't only planning one evening at Las Caletas.

You have people traveling to Puerto Vallarta from different places.

Everyone needs somewhere to stay.

Guests may be choosing different travel dates.

Someone needs airport transportation.

Someone is going to ask about flights.

Someone wants a different room category.

Someone decides to stay an extra two nights.

Someone isn't sure where they're supposed to be on the wedding day.

And somebody is absolutely going to ask you a question that you already answered three times.

They don't need to come to you. They come to me.

My destination wedding service goes beyond simply reserving hotel rooms. I will help coordinate the resort and accommodations, guest travel, wedding-related transportation, travel deadlines and the details leading up to the celebration. Your registered wedding guests have me as their travel advisor, and individual planning fees are waived for guests booking through the wedding group.

Your wedding deserves more than a room block.

Your Guests Get Their Own Travel Advisor

This is one of the biggest things I want my couples to understand.

When you hire me for your destination wedding, you are not hiring someone who simply negotiates a block of rooms and sends you on your way.

I become the travel advisor for your wedding guests too.

I will:

  • Create the wedding webpage and guest-booking forms

  • Communicate important travel information

  • Send reminders and deadline updates

  • Help guests with individual travel questions and reservations

  • Provide personalized itineraries and important wedding and destination details before departure

That means instead of your guests constantly asking:

  • What airport do I fly into?

  • When is my final payment due?

  • How do I get from the airport to the resort?

  • What time do we leave for Las Caletas?

  • Where does the boat leave from?

They ask me.

You get to be the bride.

I Want Your Wedding Morning to Actually Feel Like Your Wedding Morning

Picture your morning at Las Caletas:

  • You're in your bungalow.

  • You're with your girls.

  • You have food brought in.

  • You're walking down to the beach.

  • You're swimming.

  • You're laughing.

  • You're getting ready to marry your person.

Now imagine trying to do all of that while your phone is blowing up because the transportation from the resort is ten minutes late.

No.

That should not be your problem.

If traffic is slowing down transportation, I want to know about it.

If we need to contact the transportation company, I will be the one doing it.

If we need to communicate with the company operating the Las Caletas experience, I will be advocating for you.

If guests have questions, they will already know who to contact.

Your job that morning is not to become the transportation dispatcher for your own destination wedding.

Your job is to enjoy it.

And Then Comes One of My Favorite Parts: The Boat Ride Home

Family relaxing together at Las Caletas in Puerto Vallarta

You get married.

You have dinner.

You dance.

You celebrate.

The reception eventually comes to an end.

But at Las Caletas, the fun still isn't over.

Everyone gets back onto the boat together to return to the mainland.

And the boat ride back is so much fun.

At this point, the formal part of the evening is over.

Everyone has been eating, drinking, dancing and celebrating together.

Now you have your entire group on a boat heading across the water after an amazing wedding night.

It turns into one more big party.

You get that last piece of the celebration together before reaching the mainland, where your transportation takes everyone back to the resort.

It is one of those things that sounds small when you're reading about it.

Then you experience it.

And you realize it is one more reason Las Caletas is different.

The wedding experience doesn't end when the reception ends.

This Is Why Las Caletas Is One of My Favorite Destination Wedding Venues

There are plenty of beautiful places to get married in Mexico.

Las Caletas gives you something more.

It gives you a story:

  • The morning in the bridal bungalow

  • Swimming with your girls

  • Getting ready somewhere completely secluded

  • Your guests traveling together to the boat

  • The ride across the water

  • Walking into Las Caletas for the first time

  • The beach ceremony

  • Dinner and dancing

  • The tropical setting after dark

  • One giant celebration on the boat ride back to Puerto Vallarta

That is a wedding your guests remember.

And that is exactly what I want a destination wedding to be.

Not simply a ceremony somewhere warm.

An experience.

Why I Want to Plan Your Las Caletas Wedding

Guests celebrating during a Las Caletas wedding reception

There is a difference between hiring someone who knows how to book Puerto Vallarta and working with someone who has actually lived this exact wedding experience.

I have been:

  • The girl standing beside the bride that morning

  • The guest waiting at the resort

  • On the transportation

  • On the boat over

  • There as the wedding unfolded

  • On the party boat back

I know both sides of the day.

Now I get to take that experience and use it when planning yours.

And my involvement doesn't begin and end with Las Caletas.

From our first consultation through departure, I will help keep the destination, guest travel, accommodations, transportation, wedding details, deadlines and communication organized. My couples receive ongoing planning support, while their guests have a dedicated travel advisor instead of relying on the couple for every question.

Before you travel, I will also help make sure your group has the final information they need, with personalized travel itineraries, wedding-day information, resort details and important instructions organized before departure.

I am not interested in simply getting you married in Mexico.

I want the entire experience to feel like your wedding from the moment your guests start planning until everyone comes home.

Ready for Your Own Las Caletas Wedding?

If you are reading this and thinking, "Okay... this sounds exactly like the kind of wedding I want," then let's talk.

And you do not need to have everything figured out before you reach out.

You don't need to know:

  • Which resort your guests will stay at

  • Exactly what your wedding package should include

  • How the transportation logistics work

  • Every detail of your vision

That is what our initial planning process is for.

We will start with your vision, your guests and what you want your wedding experience to feel like. From there, we will start putting the pieces together.

I intentionally accept only five destination weddings each year so I can give my couples the personal attention and hands-on support that this type of celebration deserves.
