Is the Disney Cruise Rainforest Room Worth It? My Disney Wonder Review.

When you’re already paying for a Disney Cruise where so much is included, it can be hard to decide which extras are actually worth paying for.

The Rainforest Room was one I had gone back and forth on for YEARS. I had toured it on previous cruises and always thought it looked amazing, but I convinced myself I would be way too busy to actually use it.

On our 7-night Alaskan cruise aboard the Disney Wonder, I finally bought the length-of-cruise pass.

Spoiler alert: it was worth every penny.

Buying the pass actually made me MAKE time for it, and by the end of the week, my afternoon Rainforest Room visit had become one of my favorite parts of every day.

What You Get With the Rainforest Room Pass

The Rainforest Room is located inside Senses Spa & Salon and gives adults a quiet place to relax away from everything happening around the ship.

On the Disney Wonder, there are heated tile loungers, sauna and steam areas, experience showers including Tropical Thunder and Rain Shower, Cold Fog and water stations with lemon and ice water.

The saunas were fantastic, and I loved rotating between the heat and the different showers.

Tropical Thunder was BY FAR my favorite. It gives you this warm, tropical storm-like shower experience that feels amazing after being out in chilly Alaska. Rain Shower is more of a traditional overhead rainfall experience, while Cold Fog gives you a blast of cool mist that is surprisingly refreshing after sitting in the heat.

But the heated tile loungers? Those were MY spot.

I would grab my lemon water, put on my robe, pull out my Kindle and read. Especially on an Alaskan cruise, having this warm, peaceful oasis to come back to in the afternoon was incredible.

There Are Some Really Nice Extras Too

The locker room became part of the experience for me too.

They have robes and sandals available, and after a few visits, the staff knew me by name when I walked in, knew I was absolutely going to want a robe and even remembered my sandal size!

There are also full-size showers near the women’s locker room, which is a great option if you want more room than your stateroom shower.

I somehow forgot my facial cleanser at home, but they even had cleanser available in the locker room for me to use. It sounds small, but those little conveniences made the whole experience feel even better.

The Downsides You Should Know About

I loved the Rainforest Room, but I do think there are a couple of things you should know before buying a pass.

It gets busier on sea days. There is a sign asking guests to be considerate when it’s crowded and try to limit themselves to around 15 minutes in each area.

For the sauna and showers, totally doable.

For my beloved heated chair? Fifteen minutes barely gets me through a chapter!

The Disney Wonder’s Rainforest Room is also smaller and offers less than what you’ll find on some of Disney Cruise Line’s other ships.

I don’t necessarily consider that a negative because every ship is different, and I think the smaller space is also reflected in the price.

I’m VERY interested to see how it compares when I try the Rainforest Room aboard the Disney Wish on our next cruise!

Who Should Buy a Rainforest Room Pass?

If you’re sailing Disney Cruise Line adults-only, as a couple or with older kids, I think a length-of-cruise pass can be fantastic.

If you’re sailing with younger kids, you can absolutely take advantage of the kids clubs and sneak away for some spa time, but I would consider whether a one-day pass might make more sense if you’re not sure you’ll use it enough.

And this is exactly why I changed my mind about buying the full pass.

Instead of waiting to see if I had time for the Rainforest Room, having the pass made me intentionally create time for it.

I wasn’t trying to squeeze it into my cruise. It became part of my cruise experience.

So, Was the Disney Wonder Rainforest Room Worth It?

Absolutely.

My length-of-cruise Rainforest Room pass cost $130 for one person for our 7-night Disney Wonder sailing.

This was one purchase I truly wasn’t sure I would get my money’s worth out of, and I ended up using it almost every day.

Give me a robe, lemon water, Tropical Thunder, a sauna, my Kindle and one of those heated chairs after a cold day in Alaska?

Worth every penny.
