Park Planning Tips

You can spend hours planning the “perfect” park day… and still walk through the gates and completely forget everything. It happens to everyone. Disney can be exciting, overwhelming, and a little chaotic all at once—but that’s part of the magic. These tips will help you feel prepared, stay grounded, and navigate the unexpected with confidence.

Lightning Lanes

Lightning Lane is Disney’s skip-the-line system—and when used well, it can make a huge difference in how much you’re able to experience in a single day. That said, it can also feel a little confusing at first, especially with different options and booking times. Don’t worry—we’ve got you covered. 👉 Learn more directly from Disney here: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/lightning-lane-passes/ What is Lightning Lane? Lightning Lane gives you access to a shorter line for select attractions, helping you bypass standby wait times and maximize your day in the parks. Types of Lightning Lane Passes - Lightning Lane Multi Pass This allows you to reserve multiple attractions throughout the day. You’ll select arrival windows for rides and experiences, giving your day more structure and less time spent waiting in lines. - Lightning Lane Single Pass These are pay-per-ride selections for Disney’s most popular attractions (think top-tier rides). You can purchase access individually for specific high-demand experiences. When Can You Book? Disney Resort Guests: Can book Lightning Lanes 7 days before arrival Offsite Guests: Can book 3 days before each park day Selections open at 7:00 AM Eastern Time, and the most popular rides can go quickly—so we recommend logging in right at that time. Why It Matters Without a plan, wait times can easily take up a large portion of your day. Lightning Lane helps you: Skip long lines for top attractions - Experience more rides in less time - Reduce stress and decision fatigue during the day - Create a more relaxed, enjoyable park experience Good Trip Tip ✨ -Have a game plan—but stay flexible. Availability can change quickly, and sometimes the best strategy is adjusting as you go. We’ll help guide you on which rides to prioritize based on your park days and travel style. MagicBands

MagicBands are wearable wristbands that connect to your Disney account and make your trip easier and more convenient. What can you use them for? • Enter the parks • Tap into Lightning Lane entrances • Unlock your Disney resort room • Link your PhotoPass pictures • Charge purchases to your room (if staying on property) Do you need one? No—but they are highly recommended, especially if you’re staying at a Disney Resort. You can also use your phone (MagicMobile) or a physical ticket card instead. What is MagicBand+? MagicBand+ is the newer version with added features like lights, vibrations, and interactive moments around the parks. It’s a fun upgrade, but not required. When should you order? If staying at a Disney Resort, you can order ahead of time (often at a discount). We recommend ordering 4–6 weeks before your trip. Good Trip Tip: Make sure your MagicBands are linked in your My Disney Experience app before you arrive so everything works smoothly from day one. Need help? Your Good Trip Travel Co. advisor can walk you through setup and help you decide if MagicBands are a good fit for your trip.

Riders Swap

Rider Swap is Disney’s system for families with little ones or guests who don’t want to ride a particular attraction. It lets one adult ride while another stays with the child, then switch without waiting in line again. How it works: When you arrive at the attraction, let a Cast Member know you’d like to use Rider Swap. One adult rides while the other stays with non-riders. After the first group finishes, the second adult can ride using a special Rider Swap pass. Who can use it? Any group with guests who don’t meet the height requirement or prefer not to ride. It’s especially useful for families with small children. Why it matters: Without Rider Swap, one adult might miss out or have to wait in line twice. This system helps your whole group enjoy more attractions with less waiting. Good Trip Tip ✨ Coordinate with your group ahead of time so everyone knows who rides first. This helps keep lines short and the day running smoothly. Need help? Your Good Trip Travel Co. advisor can guide you through which attractions offer Rider Swap and how to use it effectively during your park day.

Height Requirements

Disney has height requirements for certain attractions to help ensure the safety of all guests. Some rides are more thrilling or fast‑moving, so younger or shorter guests may not meet the minimum height needed to ride. Before your trip, it’s a good idea to check the height requirements for the rides your group wants to experience. That way, you’ll avoid surprises when you arrive at the attraction. How to check height requirements: Use the Disney app or website to view ride details — height requirements are listed for every eligible attraction. At the ride entrance, look for posted height markers to confirm measurements. Why it matters: Without knowing the requirements ahead of time, you might plan for a ride that one of your guests can’t board — which can lead to frustration or reshuffling your day. These tips will help you plan around height limits and keep your park day running smoothly. Good Trip Tip ✨ Have a plan B ride ready! If someone in your group doesn’t meet the height requirement, you’ll move on faster and save time when it’s their turn to ride with Rider Swap. Need help? Your Good Trip Travel Co. advisor can help you check height requirements for your must‑do rides and give suggestions based on your group’s ages and interests.
